Dectin-1 (β-Glucan Receptor / CLEC7A)

Also: CLEC7A, β-glucan receptor · id DECTIN1

Innate-immune pattern-recognition receptor on macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils that binds fungal β-(1,3)/(1,6)-D-glucans and initiates innate immune signaling. The principal receptor through which medicinal-mushroom β-glucans (lentinan, PSK/krestin, D-fraction) have been studied for immunomodulatory activity. No approved small-molecule drug targets this receptor directly.

Botanical connections

Plants whose compounds act on Dectin-1 (β-Glucan Receptor / CLEC7A)

Each plant below contains a named compound documented to act on Dectin-1 (β-Glucan Receptor / CLEC7A). The compound and the reason for the connection are shown on every edge — a shared mechanism, not a therapeutic equivalence.

  • Lentinan (β-1,3/β-1,6-glucan)β-glucan polysaccharide

Lentinan, shiitake’s principal β-glucan, has been studied as an agonist of the Dectin-1 (CLEC7A) innate-immune receptor; this β-glucan–receptor binding is the documented basis of its investigated immunomodulatory activity.

  • PSK (polysaccharide-K / krestin)β-glucan-protein complex

PSK (krestin), turkey tail’s characterized polysaccharide-K, has been studied as an agonist of the Dectin-1 (CLEC7A) β-glucan receptor; this binding is the documented basis of the immunomodulatory activity investigated for Trametes versicolor.

  • β-Glucans (D-fraction / MD-fraction)β-glucan polysaccharide

Maitake D-/MD-fraction β-glucans have been studied as Dectin-1 (CLEC7A) agonists; this receptor binding is the documented basis of the immunomodulatory activity investigated for Grifola frondosa.

  • Ganoderma β-glucans (β-1,3/1,6-D-glucans)β-glucan polysaccharide

Reishi β-glucans have been studied as agonists of the Dectin-1 (CLEC7A) innate-immune receptor; this β-glucan–receptor binding is the documented basis of the immunomodulatory activity investigated for Ganoderma.

  • β-Glucans (polysaccharides)β-glucan polysaccharide

Chaga β-glucan polysaccharides have been studied as ligands of the Dectin-1 (CLEC7A) innate-immune receptor, the documented basis of the immunomodulatory activity investigated for Inonotus obliquus.

A shared molecular target shows how a botanical and a drug relate mechanistically. It is not evidence that one can replace the other. Educational summary only — discuss any medication decision with your clinician.
